Independent Research Lab helps research learners join topic-specific research programs designed to support the development of a publishable academic manuscript.
Through the “Find a Supervisor” pathway, learners may apply for a specific research topic and receive structured training, supervision, manuscript development support, and continued peer-review support.
Each topic-specific research program includes
- Six general research training sessions covering the foundations of academic research and publication.
- Three topic-specific supervision sessions with an assigned research supervisor.
- Step-by-step guidance from research idea development to manuscript preparation and journal submission.
- Reasonable continued support during the journal peer-review, revision, and resubmission process within the foreseeable scope of the project.
- Support in journal selection, submission preparation, reviewer response, and manuscript revision.
- A collaborative manuscript development process with a small group of research learners.
Academic integrity note: IRL does not sell authorship or guarantee publication. The program fee is for research training, topic-specific supervision, manuscript development support, and peer-review support. Authorship depends entirely on meaningful contribution, and publication depends on the independent peer-review process of the target journal.
What You Receive
General Research Training
Six online sessions covering research methodology, literature review, academic writing, journal selection, publication strategy, and research ethics.
Topic-Specific Supervision
Three dedicated feedback sessions with a supervisor who guides the group on the selected research topic and manuscript development.
Manuscript Development Support
Guidance from idea refinement to research design, writing, analysis, journal targeting, and submission preparation.
Peer-Review Support
Reasonable continued support during journal review, revision, resubmission, and response to reviewers within the scope of the program.
